As an innovation leader, I see myself as someone who bridges the gap between medicine, public health, and rehabilitation, while fostering a strong connection to my roots in both Taiwan and South Africa. My journey has been shaped by diverse influences, from traditional Chinese medicine to cutting-edge rehabilitation science. With my focus on improving outcomes for patients with chronic pain, sports injuries, and those in need of rehabilitation, I aspire to blend my expertise with a forward-thinking approach to healthcare.
I’m preparing to take on the challenges of innovation leadership by continuously seeking out research opportunities, collaborating with leading experts in physical medicine, rehabilitation, sports medicine, and aging. My education at Johns Hopkins, particularly my involvement in public health and rehabilitation research, provides a strong foundation. I am also driven by the desire to contribute to global health systems analysis and improve care for vulnerable populations, including underserved communities. By working closely with experts like Dr. Gerard Anderson and Dr. Pradeep Ramulu, I am building the knowledge and network necessary to tackle complex healthcare challenges.
What worries me about the future is the growing disparity in healthcare access, especially in rural and underserved areas, both in Taiwan and globally. Chronic pain and the aging population are also critical issues that need innovative solutions. However, I am deeply inspired by the progress being made in fields like sports medicine, regenerative therapies, and rehabilitation, which offer great potential for improving quality of life.
I envision my profession as a platform for not only treating patients but also advancing research that helps build a more livable world. By contributing to innovative therapies like platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments and exploring how rehabilitation can be tailored to individual needs, I hope to improve health outcomes and promote well-being across different communities. My interest in bridging traditional and modern medicine, as well as my research in rehabilitation and public health, are key to creating solutions that enhance life quality for my family and community.
The livability challenges I aim to tackle in the near future include expanding access to non-surgical treatment options for chronic pain and improving rehabilitation services, particularly for athletes and elderly patients. Opportunities in urban revitalization through programs like CityLab also inspire me to think about how healthcare systems can be restructured to meet modern needs.
Professional Profile as an innovative social impact leadThe CityLab Catalyst provides the architecture for my story by reinforcing my belief that innovation in healthcare should be community-focused, interdisciplinary, and rooted in sustainable practices. Through collaboration and a commitment to progress, I aim to be a leader who not only drives change in healthcare but also contributes to building a healthier, more inclusive world for future generations.
